2025 Impact Report

The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 3:6, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.” As you read through this Impact Report, you’ll see clear evidence of that truth: faithful planting and watering by so many in our church family, resulting in God bringing growth in people’s lives. This report is way more than a summary of ministry activity. It’s a celebration of life transformation. It’s a glimpse into how God is working through His church—how He is moving in the lives of children, students, adults, and families—both here and around the globe. And it’s a reminder that behind every story, every baptism, every short-term trip, every worship service, every retreat there is someone like you who chose to serve, give, pray, or step out in faith.

Our vision at Calvary is Pursuing Life in Christ. The characteristics of someone living out our vision are found in our five core values: Loving God, Living God’s Word, Growing with God’s People, Going into God’s World, and Investing in God’s Work. These pages are filled with examples of what it looks like when these values are embraced and embodied by a church family seeking first the Kingdom of God.

As you read these stories, I encourage you to pause and give thanks for the change He is bringing in the lives of others. But also take time to reflect on how God has been at work in your own life this past year—and consider where He may be calling you to plant, water, or grow in this next season of life.

Thank you for the part you’ve played in this season of ministry. Let’s give God thanks for what He has done and trust Him for all that’s still to come.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Beau Eckert
Senior Pastor

Our New Look

This year, we launched an all new website with fresh brand updates!

Over 100,000 people access our website every year—whether to watch a service, view the bulletin, sign up for an event, or just to check out who we are.

Did you know that most people will watch a church service online before they ever step foot into that church’s building? Additionally, 70% of those people are accessing church on a mobile device. So, for many exploring Calvary Church, their very first impression of us is our mobile website.

This reality isn’t necessarily negative. But, simply put: Our old website was not designed for majority mobile use.

As we began exploring ways to solve this problem, we discovered that we had a few other challenges that required our attention. Our main brand colors were difficult to read for those who are visually impaired. When we scaled down our logo, it was hard to recognize. And, maybe most importantly, we began to consider whether our brand accurately represented who we are as Calvary Church.

So, we worked together with our web developers to create a website that addresses all of these challenges.

Our refreshed colors, while still primarily green and blue, provide more contrast for better legibility. Our new logo easily scales down for mobile use. And we feel that, overall, the elements that comprise our updated brand authentically represent who we are: a church comprised of many generations seeking to pursue life in Christ together, rooted in God’s Word, and dedicated to the continued advancement of God’s Kingdom.

So, why did we redesign our website, and ultimately, our brand? To make it more accessible so more people can come face to face with the love of the Savior. We hope you love it as much as we do. And we look forward to the ways we’ll be able to use it to impact lives for Christ for years to come.

Everything has a starting point… including faith! This eight-week small group is a safe space for those who are new to faith, just checking it out, or returning to church after time away to freely explore and ask the questions they have about what the Christian life is all about.

“I walked in on that first day [of Starting Point] not even being OK approaching the idea of a conversation about faith with people. And it definitely helped foster a general feeling of openness to talk to people about faith stuff and ask questions.”Scott B.

“The thing about Starting Point is that everybody’s really authentic and open, pretty much right from the start. So, even if you’re feeling nervous walking in, the way that the discussions are formatted, the way that the questions are asked, it becomes really authentic really quickly, and it makes it easier to open up.”Alexis D.

Knowing how to read Scripture, why it’s important, and what to do with it can be difficult. This conversational small group provides tools for a lifetime of pursuing life in Christ through weekly Bible readings and discussion.

Essentials has impacted my faith walk by allowing me to fall more in love with Scripture and community. Whether you’re new to reading the Bible or you’ve read it countless times over the years, I think it’s just very beneficial to sit down in such a small group. It can be hard sometimes to find groups where you can get your voice in and your questions heard, and I think Essentials is a great place for that to happen.”

ADULT MINISTRIES

“What began as a short-term summer Bible study in 2024 has grown into an ongoing small group consisting of 12 people (6 couples). This group is marked by deepening fellowship, spiritual growth, and meaningful support through life’s many seasons. Originally formed to study practical aspects of Christian living, the group has continued meeting regularly and has become a trusted community for its members.

More than just a study group, our time together has deepened into authentic community. We’ve celebrated and grieved together—offering prayer, meals, and presence through both joy and sorrow. We’ve supported each other through the loss of parents, offering prayer, encouragement, and practical help during times of grief; celebrating the birth of a new child within the group, coming together to rejoice and offer support to the growing family; and consistently praying for one another and walking through life’s ups and downs in unity and love.

As we continue meeting, our desire is to remain open to the Spirit’s leading—whether through future studies, outreach opportunities, or deeper fellowship. We are thankful for what God has already done and look forward with expectation to what He will continue to do in and through our group. This group has become a place of trust, growth, and grace. Though it began as a summer commitment, it has become a lasting spiritual family—one that continues to reflect the love of Christ and the power of intentional discipleship.”

“I had fun at The Huddle being with friends. I learned that we need to be serving God through our actions. That includes serving others, praying, and spending time with God daily. Through my actions, others can tell I’m a Christian. I also learned that God is good, right, and always faithful. He wants us to come to Him in every situation. Jesus has set a perfect example in how to treat others and how to pray.”

“CSM has made a huge impact in my walk with Christ! I remember the first time I went on the Fall Retreat. I was so excited to be able to learn more about God and be challenged in my walk along with my Student Group. A highlight was when the speaker challenged us that, if we wanted to make a commitment to follow where God was leading us and take an action step in our walk with Christ, to go to one of our leaders and share that with them. I remember sitting in my seat, and God spoke to me and said to get baptized, so I went to my leader and shared that with them.

A second highlight was Breakaway Camp. I remember one of the challenges they had at camp was to memorize Scripture. I loved spending time in God’s Word with my group and being able to memorize Gods Word! The best part is… I still remember those verses and have reminded myself of them constantly!

My favorite event at Calvary has been Vision Student Missions Night! I have always been interested in missions and wanted to learn what part I can play now in going into God’s world and telling others about Christ! I love learning about the organizations that are sending others into God’s world to proclaim the gospel to all nations. Now, one of my favorite parts of Vision is in our last session. The speaker invited all the people that wanted God to use the ‘ordinary them’ to step forward. At first, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. But, I knew I wanted to be used by God and follow Him wherever He leads me. So, I stepped forward, toward the front, to commit to letting the Lord use me! As the speaker prayed over all who committed to following where the Lord leads them, I could feel God’s presence, and that has been such a stepping stone in my walk with Christ!”

GLOBAL MINISTRIES

Short-Term

Ministry Teams

This year, 16 teams, comprised of 88 individuals, participated in overseas ministry!

“I have had the opportunity to participate in almost 40 short-term mission trips over the last 20 years or so, both overseas and in the States. No trip has ever been the same for me. Each one has had it’s own unique experiences and lessons to be learned. That was definitely true of the Cambodia work team that I was part of in June of this year with Calvary Global Partners, Brian and Jody Williams.

One of the things that really humbled me was to see the response of my supporters when it came to raising the needed funds for this trip. God provided above and beyond my needs, which I see as a confirmation for going to Cambodia on this trip.

Once again, God reminded me of the importance of flexibility as we needed to adjust what we were doing and how we were working alongside the Cambodian construction workers who we were helping to build the new church building in Kampong Cham.

Many times, when I go on short-term trips, I go with the mindset to bless those who I am going to serve. I was once again immensely blessed myself on this trip by pastor Pisal and his wife, Sophorn. It was a real joy to get to know them and their family and to catch the vision they have for this new church. The new church is being built in an area that is about to be developed with several hundred homes, so there will be great potential for outreach. God’s plans never cease to amaze me!”

Hurricane Relief

Hurricane Helene devastated parts of the Asheville, NC area in September 2024. Calvary Church responded to this disaster by raising funds to help with the recovery effort through the Thanksgiving Offering. From February through June 2025, we sent one team per month to the Asheville area, which consisted of 27 total individuals. The relief effort was intentionally focused on partnering with Trinity of Fairview Church, located in one of the hardest hit areas. Calvary Church provided funds for materials and workers to help that church be a “gospel light” to the community where they serve.

Secret Church

This yearly event, simulcast by Radical, is an intentional time to study the Word of God and pray for a specific area of the world. This year, 63 people gathered to intensely walk through the Gospel of Matthew and pray for the unreached people of Indonesia. Participants were encouraged to consider what it looks like to make their lives count for what matters most.

Adoption & Foster Ministry

“When our son, Jeremy, was young—twenty-five years ago we lived on Main Street. Around us, there were many whose lives were difficult, even desperate. We prayed, ‘Lord how do we help these people know we care, and that we see them?’ We decided to accomplish this through Small Acts of Kindness. And so began our ‘SAK’ Club.

I made the sack, our son carried it, and we took turns knocking on doors. Our SAK carried the things needed for each situation. It had cookies to cheer a man fighting alcoholism. There were notes of encouragement for lonely widows. There was often room for a rake in that SAK—for lawns of those without the energy to care for such things. Once the SAK carried a hammer and nails to repair a porch of an amputee—not a major job, but beyond the reach of this neighbor’s arm.

We knew we could not begin to carry all the burdens, nor remove the daily grind endured by our neighbors, but it was amazing to see how much joy and relief could come to people’s faces from small acts of love. Now, we are on the other side of the SAK! It means everything to our family to have this club—our Care Community—coming around us. Their attention is mainly on us because we adopted a child with special needs. That is the reason for their assignment, but they do not overlook our daughter with disabilities

or dad whom we care for. And with every small (and larger) act of kindness, they say, ‘We see you! We are here for you! We love you!’

When we took on fostering children with profound needs in our older age (one of whom we adopted), we knew it would greatly affect our family. And the burden is often very heavy! It is not one that we are asking others to carry for

us. God alone can do that. But our Care Community SAK is surrounding us every week with gracious gifts of food, time spent with us, and prayers given on our behalf. This is a huge boost to us, helping us remain energized and to keep our eyes focused on Christ and our Kingdom- building work of caring for His beloved children.”

We each have an opportunity to participate in God’s work by serving others! God can use your unique gifts to leave an impact that leads to life change. No matter your skill set, there’s a place for you to serve at Calvary.

Order of the Towel

Since 2002, Calvary Church has recognized recipients of what we call, “The Order of the Towel.” It is given to those who exemplify a servant’s attitude and have contributed significantly to the ministry of the church, often times behind the scenes. Each year, we have honored an individual or couple, but each one is representative of so many people in the life of the church who also serve regularly and faithfully. We call it “The Order of the Towel” because it follows the example set by the Lord Jesus when He showed us what it truly means to serve one another by washing the feet of His disciples.

Last year, Thelma McCoy was presented with this honor for her faithful service in many behind-the-scenes ministries. Thelma has served in countless ways for years, from restocking pews in the auditorium, to serving on greeting, visitation, and bereavement teams, participating in food service, and hosting VBS in her neighborhood. She has a quiet spirit and a deep love for serving others—taking on any task, big or small. Her faithfulness may be unseen, but it’s certainly felt by our entire congregation and the community. Thelma’s servant heart and gentle spirit are an inspiration to all who know and serve with her.

Our hearts overflow with gratitude, not only for those who have received this recognition, but for all at Calvary Church who faithfully serve to the glory of God and for the sake of the gospel. It is how we are able to continually build up the body of Christ so we all can pursue life in Christ together.

FINANCES

The Lord continues to bless us richly through the consistent giving of God’s people. Like our last fiscal year, we again completed 2024-25 with a budget surplus, enabling us to maintain, enhance, and expand ministries locally and globally. We saw increased participation in numerous short-term ministry opportunities, for which we are grateful.

We also were blessed to see significantly increased participation in various kids and student ministry camps and activities. Since all of our financial resources belong to Him, it remains our goal to be godly stewards of all that He has provided, prayerfully considering how funds should be deployed for the advancement of His Kingdom. Our General, Global Ministries, and Benevolent funds all begin the new fiscal year on solid financial ground, and we have earmarked funding for a number of campus maintenance and repair projects as deemed necessary and appropriate by church leadership. A detailed summary of our June 30, 2025 financial status is available for your review at our Connection Centers.

Please call Rachel Byler or Dave Hostetter if you have questions on any aspect of Calvary Church finances. Thank you to the entire Calvary Church family for your continued cheerful and faithful stewardship!

Even though expenses exceeded income for the fiscal year, keep in mind this is a summary of the last twelve months of activity. As of June 30, 2025, the Global Ministries fund balance stood at $337,253. And remember, giving to the General Fund gives leadership the greatest flexibility, as any surplus can be directed to other funds when needed.
